Winter Styling Tips with Carpet Court
When the season’s change and the cooler months start to roll in there’s nothing more comforting than bunkering down at home and enjoying cosy nights in and wintery weekend days. But the key to making the sudden change to indoor life more enjoyable is making sure your home is warm and welcoming. When you come home from a long day and nights are dark and cold you want to walk through the door and feel instantly at snug and cosy.
I thought I would share my top tips on home winter styling to ensure your home is up to the cold change!
Tip 1: Always start with a great base. Whether you’re building or renovating or just looking to give your home a quick winter makeover ensure you create warmth from the ground up. This could mean taking a good look at your flooring and making sure that you have a lovely cosy texture underfoot. My number one choice for beautiful softness and warmth is carpet and the one I have chosen for my own home is my all time favourite. It’s a beautiful textured pure wool pile carpet from Carpet Court, the range is Far North and my favourite colour is Palm Cove (HERE). This carpet provides instant cosiness and a beautiful texture that just oozes style.
Tip 2: Once you have a warm base down, look at ways to incorporate texture into your soft furnishings. For a living space to feel really lovely and wintery, add a chunky knitted throw to your sofa and pair this back with a mixture of cushions in luxurious fabrics like velvet, wool felt, faux fur and linens. Mixing up the sizes and shapes will give your sofa a really interesting look. For the bedroom, look for bed linen that has weight to it, again velvet is a great choice for instant wow factor or natural linen for a simple and timeless look.
Tip 3: Add colour! Look to a wintery colour palette that reflects the seasons, some of my favourite colours to use in winter are deep blues, sage greens, mustards and deep plum and dusty rose. Just changing up your cushions over the winter months is an instant mood lifter – avoid 10 shades of grey! Add greenery, foliage or florals to coffee tables and bedside tables to bring the room to life and brighten the feel.
