Adding texture with BRICKWORKS
Architectural and design trends moving into the new year are all about texture! The clever uses of mixed materials both internally and externally are huge moving into 2019. The past year has seen design trends become bolder and more layered, with Architects and Designers using a clever mix of materials to create warmth, texture and interest and star of the show has been without doubt bricks.
Bricks have gained such a resurgence in design and some of the most interesting interiors I’ve noted this year have used bricks in really clever ways, not just on the outside but by bringing them inside too. When I was designing my own home I knew I wanted to use bricks to add visual interest to my home. There’s undeniable warmth you get from using bricks and now with such a huge and creative range available from Brickworks Building Products the design choices are endless!
One of my favourite bricks is the La Paloma brick in the narrow profile 290x110x50 (my colour is Miro) and it looks simply stunning in this off white colour. The uses for bricks internally are really only limited by your imagination. They are the perfect choice to add warmth to a fireplace and wow factor to large feature walls and when used externally create an eye catching mix of texture to a facade.
When I’m thinking about interior schemes for my clients, bricks are something I try and factor in to bring an unexpected edge to new developments or renovations. When thinking about your façade, look for smart ways to integrate mixed materials to add real interest.
