Introducing Capra Designs
I was lucky enough to stumble upon the seriously gorgeous Eco Resin vases by local creatives Bianca Lambert and Thomas Wilson from Capra Designs. These sculptural vessels are handmade in Melbourne from a water based resin with a glass insert. Each vase has a unique form, colour combination and pour technique making them unrepeatable and oh so beautiful!
Early 2016 saw the launch of Capra Designs second collection, Aurora. After endless experimentation vases were created as a solution to the two challenges that were unfolding in the Capra Designs studio.
The first was wastage. Undesirably, during the production of pots, excess resin was being disposed of and accumulating quickly. “It became obvious that a by-product was possible and essential for waste minimization”, said Bianca. The basic principle of recycling was adopted and while the vases are a by-product a great deal of thought is put into each and every vase created.
The second challenge was remaining creative while in production mode. "I'm sure many makers that design a range get to the production process and yearn to be back in design mode. The vases allow me to be in production mode while still designing," said Bianca.
Each vase is unique in shape, size, colour and pour technique and therefore allows for creative input with each and every vase produced. The vases have been inspired by the process with the intention to emphasize their uniqueness, which is unrepeatable.
Capra Designs create unique homewares produced with a conscience and specialise in plant hangers and stands and hand made eco resin vessels. Check them out and get one for your coffee table NOW!
